Yee Sang @ House, G tower

The lunar new year is approaching and as it does, a little tradition like Yee Sang comes along. Yee Sang originated in Malaysia and Singapore.

Yee Sang is basically a bunch of veggies, salmon and a few condiments that binds it all together. It is quite healthy food and delicious to eat. Yee Sang can be eaten as an appetizer or for fun. It is so light and not to mention Halal as well *wink*.

The Condiments:

* Crispy Crackers

* Ground Nuts
* Sesame seeds
* Fragrant Oil
* Sour Plum sauce

    The Yee Sang itself consists of
    * Carrot strips
    *Ginger strips
    * Cucumber strips
    * Yam Strips that comes in green, yellow and red
    And several stuff other yummy goodness

    Pour all the condiments on to the Yee Sang and start preparing the Salmon to finish up.

    Some adds either Salmon or Abalone to add additional flavor to the Yee Sang. Squeeze a little bit of lime to add a tangy zing to it.

    When everything is all piled up (as shown above), it is time to finish up this Yee Sang. Supposedly you are supposed to make a wish of what you want the year to be for you when you tossed everything together. The higher you toss it the better!
    Be sure to not spill it around because it will be a waste of veggie goodness.

    The yee sang above is by House, G tower and also a Groupon Deal.

    Delicious tea set

    Not that many places cater to the tea crowd unless you are at some hotel lounge that is. Delicious is one of a few restaurants that offers tea sets.Their tea set consists of 3 tiers of heavenly delights.

    The bottom tier is a plate filled with an assorted of sandwiches such as smoked salmon and the crispy yet scrumptious Duck confit in a filo pastry.

    The middle tiers consists of mouth watering chocolate truffles and red strawberries with chocolate dipping sauce. On that plate, there's also freshly made scones. Cream and blueberry jam was accompanied for the scones.

    The top tier is the best of all and the most mind challenging one of all. You are allowed to pick one dessert of your choice. Usually we picked our all time favourite (as shown here) but this time we decided to choose something else. Mrs were sold as soon as she saw 3 of her favourites all wrapped into one. Macadamia toffee cheesecake.

    The caramelized macadamia nuts adds that crunch to even the softness of the cheescake and the sweetness to the toffee. I guess different location of Delicious restaurant have different desserts. There's no harm to test it out except your sugar level, of course.

    Hayaki

    Driving to the east coast can be a hassle at times especially when you are craving Nasi Kerabu or Nasi Ulam. But now you can indulged in these scrumptious meals and many more Kelantanese delights at Hayaki.

    {Nasi Kukus Combo RM 6.90 w/o service charge}

    For today, we decided to have to different meals at Hayaki. The first would be Nasi Kukus and the other is Rojak Buah. Nasi Kukus is one of Mr's favourite thing to order at Hayaki with Sambal Belacan on the side. If you cant handle the hot and spicy, ask for it gravy on the side. But try not too as it will minimize the eating pleasure. Be sure to order it as a set where you get free ice Tea to drown the spicy gravy taste.

    {Rojak Buah RM 5.50}

    Next is just a simple side order or can be considered as appetizer. Rojak buah consists of a mixture of fruits and it is then infused together with shrimp paste and topped up with crushed peanuts. The fruits that is in the Hayaki Rojak was Mangoes, guava, pineapple and cucumber. Well cucumber is not a fruit per se but it all goes well together.

    RT Pastry

    It has been months since our last update on the blog.
    To start off 2012, why not start it right with something sweet eh??

    Back then it was Cupcake...then Macaroons. Now the latest craze is the soft yet airy Hokkaido Cake. There are only a few bakeries in Town that does it and RT Pastry house. Ok basically it is like a miniature cake with a yummy creamy centre on the inside. A perfect combo of cream and cake that makes you crave more of it.

    These yummy cakes can only be bought in a box of 6. And if you want a chance at it, be sure to either pre-order it or come super early to the bakery. This delicious chiffon and cream cake comes in two flavour : Vanilla and Strawberry.
    Usually Mrs Tummy would avoid anything vanilla, but this was an exception!

    Delicious

    To be frank, Delicious is one of the restaurant that we often visit on a weekly basis. Whether to have their dessert *as mention here*, to munching snacks over small chats with friends or even for a meal. Certainly not surprised if the people there will know our orders by heart. Hehehe.

    Today, we came for dinner and catching up with friends. We divide and conquered their Asian cuisine as well as Western. First up would be their Chicken Rice. This would be our first time having it. When it first came, the first thing that came to mind was where's the chilli? Usually whenever we have Chicken Rice, we would always ask for extra Kicap (soy sauce) but in this case that would not be a problem.

    {Delicious Spicy Steamed Chicken. RM 19.90}

    It stated in the menu that it was spicy soy sauce. But from the looks of it, it need more spice! Hehehe. Little did we know that they actually blended in and incorporate it in the soy sauce. A healthy portion of chicken that came with the rice and soup. Another dish that we would recommend is from their Asian delicacies is the Green Curry with Rice.

    Next would be the Carbonara.

    {Spaghettini Carbonara, RM 23.90}

    Needless to say that it is cheesy but the balance of the mushroom and bacon strips in it completes the meal. Don't worry, it is Halal of course. The downside of eating Carbonara is that mid way through the meal, you will start to get all cheesed out. Luckily the soy sauce was there to the rescue. It may sound a tat gross but it actually compliments the carbonara and added a unique taste to it. Not to mention it tasted super good that it got the job done to finish up the pasta.

    There are plenty more items on the menu that we are truly fond of like their big ass salad (you should try their pomelo salad or to be safe, Caesar Salad), burgers, pies and the 3 cheese sandwich.

    E Garden Recipe

    On the way to staying healthy, it is hard to find a nice organic food shop that is reasonable until now. Located in SS2 Mall tucked away a cosy little organic restaurant, called E Garden Recipe. To most, healthy food equals to high in price and low on taste. Rest assure that this is not the case.

    The menu was filled with food that is served with Brown Rice and uses Yoghurt instead of Santan for their curry dishes. Between the 8 of us, we had about 6 different dishes.

    The first was Assam laksa followed by Curry laksa. The others had the mee soup, grilled salmon with rice and also grilled chicken. Last but not least would be their Lei Cha.

    {Our HUGE bowl of Curry Laksa, RM 10.90}

    {Lei Cha and its condiments, RM 13.90}

    The portion are worth every single organic penny there is as they came in HUGE bowls (for the laksas). They also served freshly juiced fruits without added water or sugar of course. Wouldn't mind going back to try their other dishes.

    Price Range: The meals and drinks will cost about RM5  to RM 25 (before the 10% govt tax)

    The Tappers

    Jaya One is the place my colleagues and I tend to go for lunch. A is because it is one of the nearest to the office (Amcorp is the nearest but the parking is such a hassle) and B there is plenty of choices to eat and lastly  C if we feel like it, Starbucks is just around the corner *wink*. So today, we decided to have lunch at Tappers Caffe.

    The ambiance is so chilled out and the decor eventhough minimalistic, it is still gorg and an inspirational for my future wall of picture frames that I plan to do. It can be packed at peak hours but I must say service is still alright in terms of speed.

    There were 4 of us that went out for lunch that day, so we all ended up choosing four different meals from their set lunch. Their set lunch comes with a drink of your choice between lime, lemon tea, Goo Leng Ping (aka sirap bandung) and honey mmon. The first of the four meals came.

     {Spaghetti Carbonara RM 12.90}

    My colleague's feels that the sauce was a bit creamy and watery but taste wise, fits the bill of RM 12.90.

     {Chicken Parmigiano RM12.90}

    This was my lunch. It is basically chicken chop with melted cheese on top of it. Delicious and well recommended. The only downfall was the size of the portion. I was still left a tat hungry after lunch.

     {Bangers and Mash RM 8.90}

    {Chicken Chop RM 13.90}

    All in all for the price that we paid, it was satisfactory however the size of the portion might vary from one person to another and also depending on the food that you are ordering. So far the biggest of the lots is the Chicken Chop as well as the Asian food for lunch sets.
