Satay Station istana budaya branch

Nowadays, it is hard to find good quality malaysian food at a reasonable price. One of our local delicacy, the satay is served almost verywhere but it is usually tiny pieces of meat on a skewer. From the name of the stall says it all. Satay station has several outlets and the one we visited is near Istana Budaya.

The menu is simple either to order satay or mee Rebus. Of course we ended up with both to fill our taste buds. First up would be the Mee Rebus. A portion enough to leave space for a few sticks of satay. Although it may look unappealing, but beg the differ as it has just enough of everything to savour any taste buds. Mee Rebus originated from Johor has become everyone's favourite and a staple in any local restaurant menu.

The Mee Rebus consists of sliced up boiled egg, bean sprouts, fried shallots and of course yellow noodles. What makes or breaks the taste of the Mee Rebus is the gravy. A nice thick gravy is what makes it heavenly to be consumed by the masses. Next would be SATAY!

The helping of the satay here is how it should be. The key to a good satay skewer combination is meat-fat-meat. The meat is juicy and cooked to perfection whether it is lamb, beef or chicken. The peanut sauce accompanying the satay is thick and filled with chucks of peanuts which makes it even more appetizing to consumed. The sauce is so good that you can even eat it on its own. The only thing that would be a downfall for the satay is the lack of cucumber and rice. This is what you called truly an asian dish where many chef abroad can't really replicate.
